Nick received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arkansas, which The Atlantic named one of the “Top Five Most Innovative” programs in America. He currently teaches screenwriting at the Shanghai Vancouver Film School. He previously taught Creative Writing, Film, Literature, Screenwriting, and Television Writing at the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute.


His creative work ranges from narrative nonfiction (published in Sixth Tone) to television writing (developing a crime drama for Pearl River Film Channel), screenwriting (developing multiple projects with Chinese and international producers), and indie film projects. His short films have won awards in local competitions such as the Shanghai 48-Hour Film Project and the Shanghai International Short Film Contest.
